Week 1

How does leadership formation influence the dynamics and culture of the organization in which the leader operates?

What do you value most about your learning this week?

I achieved the weekly objective of assessing my leadership strengths by finishing the interactive assignment of strength and strategy. Leadership formation influences the dynamics of an organization by setting a tone. The leaders leading style will influence how the workers respond in turn will influence the work done which can change the dynamics of an organization. Leadership style can influence if work gets done properly, if employees are happy, if patients are happy and ultimately it can make or break a company. The thing that I value the most about my learning this week is giving thought of my leadership strengths and weakness. It will allow to me change that can make me a better leader.

What coaching or leadership development do you believe would help you to reach a new level in your leadership formation?

What do you value most about your learning this week?

I achieved the goal of critiquing characteristics of effective leaders by watching one of the nurse leaders on television and critiquing her leading style and EI. The thing that I think will help me reach a new level in my leadership formation would be self-reflecting, being more assertive and working on my CV. The thing I value most about this week’s learning would have to be my realization of what I need to do to complete my CV and be a better leader.

As a leader, how might you use a professional practice model to influence the culture and sustainability of an organization dedicated to transformation?

What do you value most about your learning this week?

I achieved the weekly objective of formulating conflict management strategies by participating in the weekly discussion. The discussion had me provide an example of how I would resolve conflict at my workplace. I will use the PPM that is based off a theoretical framework that allows for change. The PPM will be used to guide me in my practice to achieve the best care possible for my patients. The thing I value the most from my learning this week is knowing that conflict is expected but resolving it within yourself first is important.

How will you use your leadership tools and influence to build ethical, high-value healthcare organizations?

What do you value most about your learning this week?

I achieved the weekly objective of integrating ethical decision-making that promotes a culture of care by discussing how I would handle a medication error. The way I would handle the situation would be in an ethical manner that put the patient, public and family first. Apologizing and not hiding or trying to cover up the error promotes a culture of care. Discussing the error openly will allow for change to be made to avoid future medication errors. This will not only help this facility, but other facilities may learn from this error as well. I will use my leadership skills to build ethical high value healthcare by leading by example. Always promoting transparency and honesty. Showing support to my patients and staff. Always learning and sharing new and improved ways to give safe efficient care. The thing I value most about my learning this week is that I am learning what kind of leader I will be. I am proud to say that I will be honest open and responsible.

Week 5

What are the leadership competencies that support the creation of an innovative, high-value healthcare culture?

What do you value most about your learning this week?

I achieved the weekly objective of proposing innovative solutions to improve healthcare was by doing my paper that discussed verbal and nonverbal communications. Understanding these different forms of communication will help get our point across when proposing solutions to improve care. The thing I valued most about this week was learning about how important nonverbal communication is. I always felt like verbal communication was the most important, but I have learned that body language and facial expressions can say a lot.

Identify one theory or framework addressed this week. Identify what behaviors you will emphasize or de-emphasize based upon this theory or framework.

What do you value most about your learning this week?

I achieved the weekly goal of evaluating the theoretical underpinnings of leadership by doing my weekly discussion. In my discussion I used the Human relations Theory. Based on this theory I wills emphasize on connecting with the people that I lead. The thing I value the most about my learning this week is that there are so many different styles of leading and all have their pros and cons. 

Week 7

As you assess your learning, provide one specific example of how you achieved the weekly objectives by participating in the weekly readings, discussions, or activities (the weekly objectives are found in each week’s “Student Lesson Plan for Learning Success”).

As a DNP leader, how might you incorporate transformational leadership in strategic planning?

What do you value most about your learning this week?

I achieved the weekly objective of analyzing leadership effectiveness. I did this by participating in the weekly discussion. I wrote about the importance of giving care and having communication that the patient can understand. I also discussed the importance of cultural acceptance, learning and understanding. This all lies under leadership effectiveness. I would incorporate transformational leadership in planning by involving all members of the team and showing that I am enthusiastic and want everyone on the team to succeed. The thing I value most about the learning this week is that even though there are social and political boundaries as a DNP there is a way to overcome these challenges.
