What motivated you to pursue your chosen field of study?
The motivation behind my decision to venture into the nursing profession is based on a deep passion to make a difference in the most crucial times of the lives of individuals. In my childhood, I had witnessed how family members had to deal with medical challenges, which made me see the kind of changes compassionate, knowledgeable medical professionals can make to their patients and beloved ones. I also got particularly emotional after the medical staff and caregivers, who not only give clinical care but also emotional support and advocacy to the people who needed it the most. Based on the fact that patient care is a science and creativity, as Florence Nightingale pointed out, nursing requires total dedication and training as strict as that of an artist or craftsperson (Lima et al., 2022). To accomplish artistic excellence in this field, healthcare professionals should be devoted to intensive preparation and constant improvement. The field of medicine is a unique field that gives me a chance to use my competence and expertise to achieve the best health results, prevent disease, and empower people.

How do you define your professional identity? What are the core values, beliefs, and goals that guide your work?
The nursing career identity that I have is that of a caring advocate and a research-oriented practitioner who engages in the comprehensive well-being of patients. I am dedicated to treating each patient with respect, attentiveness, and cultural sensitivity with regard to the need to maintain the highest standards of medical practice. The core values of my nursing philosophy include honesty, empathy, lifelong learning, and collaborative interaction with clients that gives primary focus on patient safety and high outcomes. The American Nurses Association states that healthcare practice is concerned with protecting, promoting, and improving health and functional ability (Naegle et al., 2023). My overall goal revolves around providing personalized care that not only deals with physical needs, but also the emotional and psychological health. My goal is to become a nursing learner, one who is continuously striving to acquire knowledge, is innovative, and is a reliable source of information to patients, their families, and fellow nurses in enhancing health and healing.

How do you think DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) influences your attitudes, beliefs, or actions as a professional?
The DEI principles are the main factors that define my approach to healthcare since all patients should have access to culturally competent and equitable care, no matter their background. I understand that multicultural attitudes make nursing teams more robust and enhance the outcomes of the patients in relation to a better comprehension of various cultures and their requirements. My desire to create fair access to quality healthcare facilities and treatment opportunities for every patient motivates me as a nursing learner. My inclusion philosophy implies that I would actively listen to the individual stories of patients, be conscious of possible biases, and adjust my approach to interaction accordingly. According to Liu et al. (2020), cross-cultural proficiency is the ability to work effectively with individuals of other ethnic backgrounds. I believe that embracing diversity creates a more accepting healthcare environment, whereby all patients feel valued and understood. Through continuous self-reflection and training, I make efforts to eradicate healthcare disparities and promote social justice in every professional exchange.

What are some of the challenges or expectations that you anticipate in this program?
I expect the program to be highly academically challenging, and therefore, I am bound to have strong organizational skills and the capability to relate theoretical knowledge to the clinical experience. The intensive studies will require critical thinking, evidence-based decision-making, and the acquisition of advanced skills in clinical reasoning. I anticipate that I will struggle to grasp complicated healthcare concepts and continue to have high standards and professional competencies. Since Lytras et al. (2022) have identified experience as a requirement of expertise, but all experience does not leads to learning. I envisage the emotional pressures of the clinical experiences that comprise the exposure to human misery and the burden of patient care. I will also acquire good communication skills, leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate well in interdisciplinary medical teams as I negotiate in the dynamic world of healthcare.

What are the personal, academic, or professional goals you hope to achieve through this program?
The main objective that I am pursuing is to acquire advanced clinical skills that would help me to potentially offer high-quality care to patients in a wide range of medical facilities. In terms of academics, I will strive to achieve excellence in coursework, strong research skills, and graduate with honors as I establish a strong basis of lifelong learning. Additionally, I will apply evidence-based practice in clinical decision-making. I would like to develop leadership traits that will enable me to be an effective advocate for patients, mentor upcoming healthcare practitioners, and also help in improving healthcare policies. The authors suggest that the future of the nursing profession lies in the hands of nurses to acquire advanced education and higher degrees (Sumpter et al., 2022). In the professional field, I hope to specialize in a particular field of healthcare, acquire higher certifications, and ultimately be a leader in healthcare organizations. I am ultimately aimed at positively affecting patient outcomes as well as enhancing the nursing profession by excelling, being innovative, and showing my caring nature.
