In many cases, nursing staff no longer need to decipher physician orders and  patient care needs that were transcribed on a physical medical chart. Electronic health records (HER) aid physicians, healthcare professionals, and and nurses communicate more effectively by  eradicating many misunderstandings of verbal and written orders. Using current technologies  like computers, tablets and smartphones, healthcare professionals can create and carry through nursing orders in a safe and effective manner- decreasing medication errors (Vergés Bausili,  2019). The progression of educational technologies has unlocked numerous new teaching  methods for nursing professionals and educators- both in the hospital and classroom settings. It is  imperative for the organization to identify the proper technologies to create an efficient  environment for the learners and staff.  

Here at our healthcare facility, we should always be proactive to finding new and efficient educational technologies that bring into line our mission and core values. Our  administration and stakeholders need to constantly look at different options to guarantee the patient care is optimum. The mission statement of our association is to develop all our healthcare  professionals, staff, and students nursing knowledge through innovated healthcare technologies to develop energetic nurse leaders to improve the well-being of all individuals, including the  diverse, underserved, and rural populations. Our vision is to positively impact the health of  humanity through the excellence in research, nursing and staff education, practice, and pristine  service. We will continually thrive to become a powerfully engaged collection of vastly qualified  educators and professionals which will prepares our healthcare staff and students who will

signify a culture of empathy and medical care. Our organization will continue to generate a  positive learning environment where information is evidence-based practices are created and  shared- which will give optimal health care to all patients and delivers leadership in the  development of the nursing profession. 

Due to the covid pandemic, we have not been able to effectively have our staff and students effectively get proper education face to face. We have been using GAP analysis to track  these metrics. Our gap analysis encompasses a comprehensive process to recognize,  comprehend, report, and connection the dots in the service delivery and nursing practice. By us  conducting the gap analysis, it provided building block to gathering the info and the procedure of  discovering the sustainable solution to our important deficiency. Our organization and  stakeholders needed to recognize, measure, monitor, and execute on feasible actionable solutions  to help us find a way to ensure proper education is being given to our employees and students.  This gap analysis represented a useful and complete tool to the educational needs for our staff.  

When focusing on our organization’s metrics for educational technology, we primarily emphasize on four core metrics of learning to track our nursing staff and students to ensure the  new online learning methods are valuable and effective. The metrics that we target are staff improvement with the targeted educational goal, staff competency such as pre and posttest for the course, healthcare instructor efficiency, and staff satisfaction with the course (Gall, 2017).  Our capability to track and inspect these core metrics of learning for the classes we provide  through Microsoft Teams affects the way we teach in an advantageous way; this can be shown  by our staff’s achievement of continual education-while obtaining and practicing the information  into their nursing tasks. There are numerous rewards of learning on Teams, it’s up to our nursing

association to take complete advantage of the results and create an environment to optimize our  learning.  

Nurses and Technology with Education 

In more and more Healthcare facilities, organizations are having staff have classes  together on the virtual realm. When this occurs, the organization can conduct staff education in  the confine of the home or office, decreasing and risk of covid exposure (Vergés Bausili,2021). This technological software incorporates technology involving live videos, live verbal feedback,  educational websites, slideshow presentations, and other interactive programs. Healthcare  professionals are learning from each other with developing products of their learning through  video chat. Although our organization strives to maintain innovated technologies to optimize patient  care, we must not forget about the core of learning. Teaching with technology should not be the  only way to give great learning to or staff- it is not always about the newest and latest tools; effective learning also involves the evaluation of nursing teachers to decide how and when to use  the technology for education. The need for either technology or standard learning should be  based on the outcomes to be accomplished, not only because a technology is ground-breaking and thrilling. The main deliberation in selecting a specific technology tool for the students is  whether it will facilitate learning and is steady with the goals of the class (Gall, 2017). 

There are several challenges across the scope of nursing education. Connecting the  capability of Microsoft Teams to nursing and to our organization will help address several problems with giving our nursing staff the education needed. It will also help our nursing  students develop transferable skills they can use in their new careers. Incorporated with our gap  analysis, Teams would aid in facilitating many of our recommended courses with many remote  studying methods. Our organization has also seen the benefits that Teams and build digital skills  and confidence for our current and future healthcare professionals. We see that Microsoft Teams  will be a great asset to our organization because it includes educational resources and steered studies that are in line with our facilities curriculum, in addition to collaborative informal feedback applications. It is imperative to acknowledge that learners are already interested and engaged in using  technology, this generates many amazing chances for our organization, our local clinics and  facilities, and healthcare professionals to benefit from partaking in various forms of technology  in and out of the class to make teaching and learning expanded and more effective. There are  some key benefits of using technology in the classroom, one of them is that educational  technology can foster collaboration. Not only can nurse educators engage with the staff during  trainings, but the staff can also interconnect with each other live. Through lessons online and  learning exercises, the staff get to work collectively to answer any problems. In collective activities, the nursing staff can share their ideas and thought and get great insight from each  other. At the same time, technology empowers one-on-one communication with the educator and  student. Our staff can ask curriculum-related questions and seek extra help on difficult-to understand subject matter if needed.

Pros and Cons with Technology with Organizations

Microsoft Teams would be a great benefit for our organization in more ways than one. One of the assets is the incorporation of all tools in a single area. Microsoft has conveniently put  everything you need to compile an effective class with a click of a mouse. You have a chat tool,  text tool, volume control, and a place to ‘raise your hand’ if the learner want to ask a question.  You can make work on files without leaving a chat, change the setting to video or only audio, and isolate one learner for private meeting if needed. (Dack & Roe, 2019). There are also  advantageous chat additions, using Teams does not mean you need to give up on the other tools or computer applications you normally use. For instance, you can be on a Teams meeting,  minimize the meeting in the lower portion of your computer, and complete any other tasks on the  computer. There are also many fun selections like GIF’s, emoticons, and live texting.  

Privacy overall is a major concern for any healthcare organization, including ours- this  can cause company liabilities which will make us vulnerable for financial liabilities. Since  communicating virtual in the healthcare setting can be useful, there is a lot of room for fault especially if the meetings or classes have sensitive patient health information (PHI). The Joint  Commission guidelines and policies have also been redefined, now permit texting of orders and  patient information- any healthcare organization can uphold this status on if the healthcare  professional is compliant with a protected texting platform and sustains safety procedures to  ensure order accuracy (Huryx, 2017). One con that may need to be addressed if we utilize  Teams is having increased security risk. By default, everybody can create a team- this benefit increases collaboration potentials, it may also increase security risks. Visitors that may or may  not be invited can upload potentially damaging files or software to Teams channels. Our  healthcare workers involved in the meeting can unintentionally upload these files with delicate or  confidential information. Non managed computers, outside of organization, can attach to our

Teams meetings and possibly steal or alter information within channels. These dangers can of  course be alleviated. However, additional resources are needed to manage and implement permissions, controls, and authentication.
